Cut the squash in half long ways, from tip to stem.
Scrape out seeds.
Score the inside of the squash halves in a cross-hatch pattern.
Place the squash halves cut side up in a baking pan. Add 1/4 cup water to the pan to prevent the squash from burning or drying out.
Rub 1/2 Tbsp butter into each squash half. Sprinkle in a bit of salt. Add 1 Tbsp of brown sugar into the center of the each half and drizzle with 1 tsp of maple syrup.
Bake at 400 for about 1 hr to 1 hr and 15 minutes or until browned.
